What’s it for?
The Out House Community Centre aims to provide
a safe, welcoming and accessible space for all Lesbian, Gay and
Bisexual people around Nottingham. It will provide an alternative
to the commercial pub/club scene by being inclusive and non-threatening,
inviting people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and interests
to come and be themselves in an accepting environment. It does not
matter whether people are “out” or not. The Centre will have an
ethos of respect and all users will be expected to share its aims
and principles.

The centre aims
to be:
- a place to meet
other people (for example in the community café/bookshop)
- a focus for information
and volunteering (via the office area and notice boards)
- a focal point
for the emergence and development of whatever services the
LGB communities feel they need.

The need for an LGB Community
Centre has been agreed by the Nottingham LGB Forum and is supported
by Nottingham City and County Social Services, Nottingham Health
Authority and the Nottinghamshire Constabulary. The Out House seeks
to work collaboratively with all other LGB groups and organisations
in the area.
The latest developments
can be seen in the 'News and
Views' section of this web site. The Cranbrook Street premises
on the corner with Lennox Street have now to be disposed of. We
hope it will be replaced by a more modest community cafe in the
Hockley area.
A new strategy has been approved
by our members. We hope tp begin with a community café/bookshop
before too long.
